While I like how that sounds, I've seen respect, especially the demand
for respect, used as a weapon and a tool for not listening to honest
feedback way too often.

Given a choice between honesty and respect, I'll choose honesty. 
I'll take respect when I see it and give it when I can, but if it
becomes a barrier to communication between equals then it becomes 
disserving.
