The ability to tow an Airstream without a tire mounted on one of the dual
(or triple) axles as the result of a flat or blow out is likely unique to
Airstreams.

This is because each wheel on an Airstream is independently suspended (and
not connected to an adjacent wheel).  The Airstream uses an independent
rubber mounted torsion bar suspension system.  SOBs, which use
interconnected leaf springs do not provide this capability.

Keep in mind that trailers are built with the number of axles needed to
support the trailer's weight, not for towing characteristics.  Single axle
trailers are easier to back up, but that's about it.

Double or triple axle trailers are better in that if you have a blowout,
you can remove the bad tire & proceed to a tire shop (at a reduced speed)
if you do not have a good spare with you.
