** FROM BONITA **

COCONUT ROAD: WCI has withdrawn its petition asking Lee County commissioners to
surrender public claim to the western end of Coconut Road, but the issue of who
owns the narrow strip that leads to Estero Bay is anything but resolved.

AWARD: An Estero man who blew the whistle on safety violations at Lee County
schools could be $400,000 richer after a jury decided Monday night that
district officials eliminated his post because he reported the hazards.

ESTERO PROJECT: In an area becoming more attractive to both retirees and young
professionals, one south Lee County development is hoping a downtown look will
draw in a more diverse demographic.

DUMP TRUCKS: Golden Gate Estates residents are once again singing the "Dump
Truck Blues," and hope Collier County sheriff's officials hear their ballad.

kill a much-anticipated deal to bring a Skytruck airplane finishing plant to
Immokalee Regional Airport.

victimizing someone with challenges warranting such a costly vehicle. The theft
of two, three or four within a few months is unthinkable. Eight is
preposterous.

YELLOW IS ... HOT: Forget about that little red sports car. Yellow shouts
louder and, increasingly, it's the color of choice for the driver who wants to
make an unmistakable statement on the road.

TAX TALK: The Collier County Commission is looking into new ways to raise
revenue to pay for county services. At a recent meeting with state legislators,
commissioners discussed pushing for a real-estate transfer tax that could apply
to the sale of homes, buildings and land. The state Legislature would have to
pass legislation approving such a tax.
