COLLIER SHERIFF CONTINUES TO DEFEND OVERTIME BUDGET 
A building supervisor with the Collier County Sheriff�s Office made more money 
in a year than Sheriff Don Hunter. Roger Fussell, who is in charge of inmate 
work areas thoughout the county, had a base salary of $58,295 but he made 
$72,863 in overtime. That means an income of $131,158 in fiscal 2004. Hunter, 
who earned $123,800 in 2004, said he�s fine with a subordinate making more than 
him. 
 
SIX YEARS AFTER ARRIVAL, BLOCK SCHEDULING MAY BE A GONER 
The concept of block scheduling � teaching in 90- rather than 50-minute periods 
� swept through Collier County high schools in 1998. School officials faced 
fierce opposition from those who wanted to keep the traditional 50-minute 
format. Now, six years later, School Board members will unveil how they plan to

CHILDREN WHO�VE SURVIVED CANCER TAKE IN A WEEKEND AT CAMP 
His parents call him an �adrenaline junkie.� Even while he was undergoing 
chemotherapy and wearing a metal port, he continued to play sports. 
Eight-year-old Colton Phillips-Hoffman doesn�t know that he has become a 
survivor who other Southwest Florida parents who have children with cancer 
admire. Colton was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia when he was 4.

The first regional jet service out of Naples to a major out-of-state hub begins 
Monday, exhilarating airport officials and community leaders who have been 
lobbying for such a service for several years. Tonight at 9:15, Atlantic 
Southeast Airlines� first flight from Atlanta�s Hartsfield-Jackson 
International into Naples Municipal Airport is scheduled to land. On Monday, 
the first flight out of Naples is scheduled for 7 a.m. Two more departing 
flights are scheduled for 12:15 p.m. and 5 p.m.
