I read Brian's account of horseboating with interest. I am of course
delighted that he discovered some of the joys of horseboating which
members of The Horseboating Society know and enjoy.
Very definitely some of the problems experienced are due to towing a
boat without a large sized rudder. This gives the surface area in the
water to provide steering.
It is true we move off quickly. I wonder if a cablelaid cotton line was
in use? This gives a smooth take off at each end for both horse and
boat.
I had hoped to come and have a look at your boating but was engaged
elsewhere in the end.
Good luck for the future. HBS are very willing to help if wanted/needed.
Perhaps have a look at our website sometime, www.horseboating.org.uk

Sue Day, chairperson of The Horseboating Society
