Could one of you techy types assist again please? My 4 way USB, self
powered hub (USB 1.1) gave up the ghost today. I'm using a Toshiba
Satellite Pro 6100 (approaching 4 years old now) running XP Pro and
can't seem to identify what USB version it runs except to know that
I've seen occasional 'warning' messages suggesting that I could
inprove the performance of such and such a device by running USB
2.0........so I'm pretty certain the Tosh can't be supporting that
level. I've located another USB hub (good old Screwfix where I bought
the first) and there are two on offer. One is a cheapo and doesn't
seem to indicate what standard it is. The other isn't that much more
expensive and clearly states that it is USB 2.0 but supports
1.5/12/480 Mbps data transfer rates. My question is, if I buy and fit
this USB 2.0 hub to my existing computer set up, will it work. I'm
aware that USB 2.0 is backward compatible for the slave devices, but
is it going to be OK if the laptop feeding it is not USB 2.0?
Ta muchly,
Roger
