Ah! I thought.  There might be a clue here.

Well David Suchet was asked about his interest in the inland waterways 
but no mention was made of the present crisis.

Then on came Prescott who immediately launched into a tirade about how 
the government have improved the canals over the last 10 years AND HE 
WAS NOT CHALLENGED AT ALL.

I dispair.
