If your computer has been compromised, someone else has complete access to it. They have access to your email address book and any other files and can send email from your computer, using your details, just as if you sent it yourself. This is how a lot of viruses and spam is sent, not from the perpetrator's own computer but from a number of other people's computers they have hacked. The owner is probably not aware anything is wrong. They do this precisely so that the offending emails are indistinguishable from the computer owners genuine emails. I understand you use library computers; you are depending on the council IT dept.s competence in keeping them secure. My local council has difficulty emptying the bins competently, YMMV. -- Niall
