As Mike said welcome. Ask as many questions as you like we welcome new
input.
I disagree about the reselling price. Within a year you should get the same
price as you bought the boat. A lot depends on how much you pay in the first
place. Even second hand boats can cost £100,000. You can find boats cheaper
than that though. A fibreglass boat will be a lot cheaper but I don't know
about the resale. Most, if not all of us have steel narrowboats. To add to
Mike's good advice always get an independent survey before buying.

Useful websites are www.waterscape.com : Residential boat owners
www.rboa.org.uk  and national ass of boat owners www.nabo.org.uk ;
www.craftinsure.com can sort insurance on line.
If you want an exchange try advertising in a magazine such as Waterways
world or Canal Boat (both editors post here). This could well be the
cheapest option. We have plenty of retired boaters here.
I have lived on board for 19-20 yrs. Our first boat was second hand and we
sold it after 2yrs for more than we paid for it. Our present boat we built
ourselves and is still worth what we paid for it.
I will now get into trouble with the rest for top posting but that's boaters
for you.
