Adrian's post included the words "revenue neutral (i.e. not a tax increase)"
Julian Tether replied > You are really naive if you believe that............ I am with Julian. Everything the Government does to reform is about taking the tax more easily. There maybe a pay back to the consumer at first " a bribe" almost, but eventually we are made to feel guilty that we had it in the first place. Doctors and the New Deal, New and Extended airports to give wider access to Cheap flights and now we are being charged for being anti green, more and yet more roads and we have to pay congestion charges and a 'potentially' higher road fund tax, more money in the health service and now all our hospitals are in debt to their eye balls!. Its sad to admit that whatever hue the Government might be the same thing would be happening. I am now going to try and get my name down as the 1,000,000th signatory. I bet after this they decide that the on line petition was making it too easy to get public sentiment to the attention of the Government. Trevor PS This morning the DWP admitted that they have written to pensioners to apologise that they have disclosed their bank account details to other pensioners by mistake. This was just what couldn't happen when objections were raised to having pensions paid directly into their Bank Accounts.
