Hmm  . . . makes it sound as if removing them is going to be a bit of 
expletory experience.

There's one other thing - I've noticed a bit more smoke in general 
recently. It's a bit more bluey than black which I think means oily 
smoke. If that means oil in the combustion chamber(s) then it could be 
bore/ring problems but I suppose it could also gunge up the injectors 
and spoil their performance.

My gut feel has been expecting injector problems since last summer's 
relatively mild starting/coughing etc. We climbed up Cam Peak last 
Saturday evening from where you used to be able to see the sprawling 
Lister empire in Dursley and wonder at the associated haze of foundry 
smoke. It's all gone now - just a pile of rubble. Perhaps the JP is 
pining.
