We once did Wigan going up in two and a half hours, that's about 7 
minutes per broad lock, but it was in the days when you could book a 
BW 'Assisted Passage' and we had two lockkeepers for our sole use all 
the way up.  8am bottom lock, 10.30 on The Lancaster pound.  Cracking.
