I see nothing in Chris' post to indicate either that he is using
"immigrant" as a code or his attitude towards non-white people, so I
think Nigel's comment is uncalled-for.  

OTOH I am against (net) immigration, as I think the population of this
country should be smaller.  Much smaller.  However, I see that as a
matter of numbers, not of personal characteristics.  And I don't see
myself as prejudiced, but rather as attempting to counter a trend that
is demonstrably damaging the national environment.  

Being against something is not the same as being prejudiced concerning
it.

I feel it would be very unfortunate to be prevented from discussing
this by unwarranted accusations of racism.

Throwing coconuts in the canal?  That's littering, and unacceptable no
matter who does it.
