For those interested in things oop north, the local council gave
permission
at last for a new 200 berth marina at Red Lion Bridge, Scarisbrick on
the L
& L albeit with several restrictions.
The developer is the same person who owns the Fettlers Wharf and
St.Mary's
marinas on the Rufford Branch.
Work starts in the new year, but no work can be carried out between
March
and July (the bird breeding season), according to one of the
restrictions.
For those who know the area, the boating entrance will be opposite
Red Lion
Caravans, just under the bridge.

Negotiations are also taking place between developers and the land
owner for
a marina at Lydiate, by the Running Horses.
Both marinas should offer facilities for the 1200 plus boaters per
year who
will be coming this way (according to BW) when the Liverpool Link
opens.
