We live in the Marches and our rainwater all heads for the Severn - finally. On
Tuesday all our overflow ponds, including our front garden which holds 10,000
gallons were full but they drained by Thursday morning at which point the rain
re-started with a massive thunder/hail/rain storm to start refilling everything.
Did anyone see the cops prog on BBC the other night. In the floods of last
summer they had the Ross motorway closed and found a chap heading down it the
wrong way trying to reach Bristol. We figured he was going by that route as it
was the only open bridge across the Severn. As the police gave him a an escort
off the motorway in the direction he wanted to go maybe they figured he as OK -
unlike all the bods they normally have to deal with (including one 18 year old
who should have be spanked by his daddy rather than given a car).

Just crossed Sonning bridge. The Thames at Shiplake has overflowed
into vast areas of fields and people's gardens. The river itself
looks unnavigable. My barometer's reading is incredibly low at
28.8 inches, which is Very Bad News. Looks like weather...
