The give away for this was in a later email where you mentioned you were using the Voda system for your mobile internet. I bet you find that when you connect directly to a network (at work or home or whatever) you don't have the same problem.... Vodafone compresses the images to a lower quality by deafult so that they download quicker. If you hover over the image it will tell you how to get them at full resolution (can't remember off the top of my head) and SOMEWHERE there is a setting to run at full resolution all the time (if you get stuck let me know and I'll try andf find it).
