If you have a BW licence with a renewal date of 1st April 2008 you will pay the 2008 fee, not the 2007 fee for your length of boat no matter how early you apply. I should know, I used to work in that department. The debate about the amount a licence costs is another thing altogether ... and there's just been a big consultation exercise on that. I gather EA licences are going up a lot too and I have heard many rumbles (sorry, grumbles) about golden and geese and cooked, as well as minority users, other users don't contribute, maintenance, access for all, heritage etc etc. You know where to click and where to tell other waterway users to click... www.saveourwaterways.co.uk/join if you're not already a member of AWCC, IWA, NABO, RBOA etc. or even if you are.
