I am about to get T-Mobile's equivalent, to use my phone as a modem
for my laptop..

As a T-Mobile customer already, I can either use the Internet for a
maximum of £1 for any day I connect, or get a monthly addition to my
tariff (which I can buy one month at a time) which gives me 3 GB for
£7.50, 6 GB for £12.00, or 10 GB for £22. The last of these also lets
me use Skype.

My phone is not 3G (because T-Mobile cuts my monthly charge in half if
I don't get an upgrade). However, I tested using it on GPRS and it
said it was giving me a speed of 115 kB, which I can live with while
off boating no problem.
