Having experienced this twice in the same lock (top lock of Bedford
Street staircase) I'm very aware how easily it can happen and drop that
lock VERY slowly. I have had it happen in a couple of other places as
well but it usually drops off after a couple of inches or so - the one
downside of a Josher bow is that it has a pretty substantial flat
underside to the top strake where this can easily happen. Also
single-handing makes it difficult to notice it as it starts to happen.
