We used a large Camping Gaz one on Badger for a few years after the gas
fridge had to come out (for some reason the surveyor wasn't happy with it
propped up on 4 house bricks)! It was fairly effective even when only run
for 30 minutes or so a couple of times a day. As far as I can recall we
never had milk go off - usually the quickest indicator - even if it had been
open for a few days.

I'd echo Roger's comment that they're not ideal, but certainly it worked for
me. We had a slight advantage with a well insulated wooden-top boat so the
interior temperature never got that high of course.
