Sounds like Mr Edgson copied most of the good bits of an R&D weedhatch 
arangement (which Ray did as standard on trads and semi-trads since the 
1980's)...except the weedhatch itself  ;-)
The plate clamped down to the top of the uxter plate is most disconcerting, 
especially once you have stuggled to crack the seal and watch the upstand 
fill with water. Having struggled to remove the weedhatch on an early Edgson 
boat (under the counter, it had no hatch in the rear deck at all) no wonder 
he copied a tried and tested design ;-)

So how does the weed hatch work on Phoenix?
