Hi Tony,

Ooops, well I said at the time that it *was* a late evening / early
morning post, so it very well might well be rubbish info .. LOL!

I'll pop along to your website again (if I can find the link again as I
am also part way into upgrading my OS to W7) and I'll work through as
you have suggested - but it will possibly be a while before I actually
get back to you as the Mobile Internet connection (with '3 Mobile', at
least) on most of the K&A appears to be rubbish as well.

Cheers for the comments though - especially those figures concerning
your own 60 watt panel; it is exactly *that* sort of data which is going
to be so very useful when decision time comes along, although I have to
admit that I'd certainly not anticipated such a significant loss of
charge (90+%?) capacity as you have experienced :(

Winter 'wind power' is something else which I have been considering;
unfortunately, it seems that there is a problem when using many of these
devices on a nb, i.e. when the winds pick up and power has to be dumped
rather than usefully employed - right at the time when it could be most
useful. I gather that there can also be considerable vibration
transmitted to the hull under some circumstances. Just recently I've
actually started building a home made wind generator, from a basic
design I'd seen on an American website during the summer, but it is
still a long way away from being put 'on-line' for mechanical testing,
let alone discovering whether it is capable of actually producing usable
electrical power.... but even so it should stop me getting too bored of
a long winter's evening <grin>!
