Ah, but the new rule doesn't say "if you quote someone, make sure you attribute the quote correctly". In fact it doesn't mention that aspect of the problem at all - it simply forbids replying to multiple messages at once. The most compelling justification that has been given for this new rule is that it messes up threading. But digests are another case where that symptom already exists (and will still exist with the new rule) without causing anyone any real bother. David.
