A friend is interested in the old Medway Queen Paddle steamer. This went to
Dunkirk and used to do trips from Southend to Clacton across the Maplin Sands
(with lead in action) when I was a kid. Finally the hull rotted away and it
sank a few times.

Now a society is rebuilding her with the old engines but with an all new hull
and interior works. There is a webcam of the drydock they are using for the
job. The interesting bit is that the new Queen will be built using rivets. The
first new ship to be built using them in 50 years they say. As there was a
rivet thread on here I thought you might like to know.
