Easy to do, especially if you don't know the boat well, but we had a
better one. We were crossing the River Humber (the boat is moored on
the Driffield Navigation) and the prop ventilation - thanks to the
rough waters - was causing serious shaking in the boat. We had to keep
the power on to keep with the tide. It wasn't till after I walked
towards the back after a rest when I noticed water coming out of the
side of the wooden engine covering. The water was up to the
alternator, but had been leaking into the main cabin (there is a 2-3
foot steel partition between the engine and the rest of the boat, for
some time.

We took out something like 100 gallons of water out, and now ensure
that the weedhatch is well secured. The screw had rattled loose over
time realeasing the presure and letting the water in.
