The local paper has a bit in about a contest concerning a narrow-boat being pulled (by humans) the 40 miles from Knighton to Bournville on 6th/7th/8th May. This recreates the horseboat trips between the two in the old days.
At £1 a go you can guess the number of steps it will take to do it. Prize is £100 - all other monies go to cancer research. (They want to raise £5,000.) The boat pullers are from Premier foods at Knighton. When on the move one will wear a pedometer to count the steps.
