Apart from the Irish-registered car, you could probably have described anybody
round the Basin - including most of the volunteers!

If you do go to the Basin, park in Daisy Meadow car park. It's free. Having
parked-up, keep heading south and up the steps, where you will find yourself on
the towpath. At this point there is a trip boat.

If you turn left, you get to the main sight-seeing spot with a choice of the
Jolly Sailor and the Old Ship pubs (food served most of the day). Just (and
only just) down-river from these are a row of wooden buildings, one of these is
the tea-rooms where you can sit outside if you wish. It is run by Wilkins, the
Tiptree Jam firm, and I thoroughly recommend the toasted tea cake with Tiptree
jam!

That's just what I need: many thanks.

olunteers working somewhere along the Navigation (I can usually only do
ednesdays). We do some of the minor repair work, cut grass, install power and
ater supplies, make landing stages, etc.

Look forward to seeing you.
I think I'll be there on a Tuesday, but I'll wave at any volunteers
nyway. If you see a fat bloke with a hat, a beard, glasses, two dogs
nd an Irish-registered car, that's me!
