Indeed.  But my point is that the Slough branch has very little going
for it, so if we *have* to lose any waterways it might well be on the
list.  Because I don't feel much desire to use it, I suppose I
wouldn't feel too bad to lose it.

Unless it becomes part of a through route to the Thames, of course.

Go for it.  If enough people want to preserve it, then of course it
should be retained (and maintained).  It's not that I have any
philosophical opposition to the waterway.
