I have been told, quote "that in order for a boat to hold a valid BSS (Boat

Is that accurate?

Sort of. The minimum size of breather pipe, filling pipe, position of filler
pipe entry into the tank and the position of the breather in the BSS guide
seem to be based on the old Thames Launch Regulations which were intended to
minimise blow back.

I do not think there is any way a BSS inspector can assess the propensity
for blow back during a test as long as the pipes etc. meet the regs.

Thanks Tony, Would you know what the regs, if there are any that directly
relate to blow back, are?
