I haven't been there by boat for a few years (when we did, we turned Fulbourne
fairly easily - and on another occasion we turned about a mile further up where
a stream comes in on the south side) but I was up at the roundhouse (now owned
by one of my canal restoration buddies) a few weeks ago and noticed that the
shoal on the left (when facing upstream) just by the turning point is quite bad
these days. Some really quite small children were wading quite a way out into
the river. How deep is Sanity Again, and is there much difference between the
bow and stern? If I was trying to turn Fulbourne, I'd probably put the much
deeper stern into the Colne and leave the relatively shallow bows on the side
where the shoal is.
