Not toilet, engine or prop shaft. Several seen on the Severn above the 
Upper Parting yesterday, I've never seen them in the upper river before. 
They were doubtless feasting on wild salmon, £35/kg in our local fishmonger.

I would guess Common Seals (also found in the Wash etc.). Head is more 
dog-like, 
with a domed forehead and slight dip between forehead and nose; Grey Seal has a 
straight (cow) or convex (bull) profile. If the seal is looking at you, 
nostrils 
form a V in Common, but are parallel in Grey.
