I was at the boatyard at the weekend discussing the new paint scheme for my boat (grey and white Leonard Leigh-style tug paint job). I asked in the office how business was going. They were at that moment involved with fifteen boat sales. The painter, who theoretically works a two-day week, hadn't had a day off in four weeks and is completely snowed under with work.
I walked up the locks and up to the mouth of Braunston tunnel. The canal was
very
busy with both hire and private boats.
