I am sure that you will appreciate the article "Development and Implementation of an Information Management and Information Technology Strategy for Improving Healthcare Services: A Case Study", that may be downloaded from: http://www.himss.org/content/files/him15307_9612.pdf
It is the best and most lucid analysis that I know of, about the inner workings of a quality healthcare information system.
It is about a quality centered healthcare organization - PeaceHealth - and how they achieved a state of excellence at the difficult task of building and hospital information system (HIS).
In this article the human being, seen as a patient or as an employee, is considered the most important asset of that organization. That's how it should be. That's how PeaceHealth become such a successful organization.
At the end of that reading I am sure that you will agree with me in trying to bend the Care2x project to support those same paradigms of excellence.
At Care2x project we are already have most of the tools needed. With a conceptual twist and a more robust data model we could well have a very good Care2x system based in the PeaceHealth Concept before the end of 2004.
Finally, take a look at the PeaceHealth way of doing healthcare, visit their site at: http://www.peacehealth.org/ .
Best Regards,
J. Antas
P.S. I am in no way related to the PeaceHealth Organization. They are an american organization and as far as I know they do not exist outside the USA.
