I think this will be difficult to implement at an international level of use. The biggest problem will be that many pharmacies are not on the net constantly, or even at all in many cases. Secondly, various countries handle drug purchases differently. For example, we are currently working on integrating what is known as the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme in Care2x here in Australia. This scheme is basically to allow general population to get subsidies on many prescription drugs. There are strict rules and protocols to adhere to when filling out a prescription to allow this to happen and be tracked. I would think there are other similar situations in different countries around the world. I certainly think that securing the default ordering methods to use proper security with certificates etc would be an advantage no matter what your country of origin.
