Hi, I agree with you. Most of the distributions are now bundled with latest version of both PHP and Apache. Myself have installed XAMPP on Ubuntu 7.04 but run under virtual host like Virtualbox and it's really easy to use. However you must change permission of your Care2x directories during the installation. As far as I am concerned that was the only thing I did.
