Committers,
Please review Jira for fixes and improvements that are suitable for a
3.4.12 release, and mark them with the fix version of 3.4.12. Of
course, only resolved issues should be considered. In my mind the most
important issue for this release has security implications:

Let's get this done by Friday, after which time I'll cherry pick the
commits from master into the 3.4.x branch in preparation for cutting a
release. I'd also appreciate feedback on a tentative release date of
Friday, April 13. (Yes it's Friday the 13th, which says a lot about my
regard for supersition.)
