I'll take #1 and #2 and do plan to spend some time this weekend to review 
and work on those two items. (Might even be able to do more, but I'll ping 
the thread before moving onto further items) I have also done some 
preliminary sketches of how LPPE might fit into the new designs and once the 
changes are merged back into the 'feature-new-authn-api', I'll get ready to 
work in parallel on that front.
