I have a 1981 Catalina 27. The diaphragm of manual bilge pump is aging and has significant cracks. It is still working but I don't want to rely on it. Therefore, I started the search for a spare part. The bilge pump is a Whale Gusher 8.
For those of you who have a similar issue and would like to benefit from my research, here is what I found out: Whale Pumps' answer: "The service kit for that pump is our part number SK8813 which is stocked by both West Marine and Defender." Defender's response: "I am told just about everything for the Gusher 8 was discontinued back in 1989 except for the spares kit which does include a diaphragm. This kit sells for $24.99 and is available as a specialty order (7-10 days typically to come in house)."
