We hit 9.4 on the Long Beach to Dana Point race.
Full main, 3/4 ounce kite, white knuckles (we tried hard to do a death
roll doing about 8-something). Lots of 7's and 8's. Missed first in
class by 6 seconds. It's something sailboat owners seem to worry about but not something naval architects worry about. The general calculation for displacement type boats is: 1.34* square root of water line length in feet. Of course that doesn't mean you won't see say 7 knots over ground or 3 knots through the water. It's basically what you'd see if you discount waves, currents etc. -- Dave C27 #5212 Windabout Cape Cod http://dpbcc.home.comcast.net -------------- Original message ---------------------- From: "Jones, Lance B" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>Thanks.
