I remember M & E Marine, and there was another in NY outfit that fails of recollection. They had better suits than West. Hell, I even remember when Land's End was a ship's chandlery and sold sane foul weather gear, ie, with the rubberized layer on the outside, so that a whole layer of nylon didn't have to get soaked before the thing started repelling water. I have one of those suits, right now, and it's still pretty good.

Dear Tom,

I whole heartedly agree with your statement but to the uninitiated it infers
accepting Boat US into the fold diluted WM's competence. I think instead it took away the last vestige of actual competition.

take a trank before you go...the help at
west marine has gone steadily downhill since the
Boat/US "merger."

I recommend thorazine.

Tom,
I just noticed that the tag on the pfd reads West Marine by Sospenders,
so I'll get to see how they honor their "If you are ever dissatisfied
with your purchase, simply return it. We'll repair or replace the item,
issue a credit or send you a refund". I'll be going on Wed., will let you
know.
