catalina27-talk: Stiff new sails-Jib

Hi,
Possible solution for controlling a take down of a new stiff jib.
Make a ring about a foot or so in diameter from a soft wire, with a cable clamp. Cover any outstanding wire ends with tape.  Tether it to the pulpit.

As you take off the hanks, transfer them to the ring.  This will give you control over the sail when it is detached. Put a couple of bungee cords areound the sail and stuff it down the forward hatch.  Have your sail maker give you an oversize sail bag. Your current bag is really sized to a flaked and rolled up jib and will be too small for a couple of years. When you are back at the dock you can stuff it in the new bag. 

Sorry, not my original idea-originally thought from a round the world single handed sailor-Dodge Morgan.  He called it a spider.  I'm trying to figure out how to do it with a hank less furler jib.

Any ideas?
