Robert,

Yes, It happened to my 1984 .. M-18..
About a year and a half ago..

A local Diesel Mech replaced the pump unit.. total cost with labor was about $
450.00
I can't comment about a Kubota cross number for the pump unit,
but IF you have an M-18 engine... It's a Kubota ... Z-600
If it's not.. Please indicate the engine's model number..

Subject: catalina27-talk: Universal Engine Fresh water pump

Folks, last week the freshwater (not raw water) pump on my 22 year old
Universal Diesel engine quit. More accurately, it seized up (belt started
squealing) while the engine was running. This seems unusual, as I've never had
a auto water pump seize up like that. Has anyone else seen this happen?

My real question, though, is where to get replacements. Torrenson and others
seem to want more than $300 for a complete pump assembly. Seems a lot to pay,
for what is essentially a water pump on a Kubota tractor engine. Years ago on
the lists, there was a page floating around with cross references between the
Universal Diesel parts and the Kubota part numbers. Anyone seen this reference
lately?
