Behind on the email so this may have been answered already by Cary. There are 4 or 5 C27's that race in our Wed night series -- a couple spinnaker and a couple JAM (Cary and I, plus another). Not everyone bothers with DRYA, just their local club. There are other C27's that race in other clubs. We used to have two fleets of Catalina owners on the lake but we're down to just one.
The single-handed race was a blast, with all 7 boats finishing within a 5 minute window after nearly 6 miles. I was 2 seconds behind the C30. The winds were definitely in my favor that day! Bob Mann -------------- Original message -------------- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Cary Race?! You can race these things :>) All kidding aside, I noted a while ago that you and Bob were two of only 4 Catalina 27's on the DRYA valid list for PHRF. With over 25 yacht clubs in the DRYA roster I find that somewhat incredible. Do all the other Catalina owners crew on someone else's boat? Congrats to both of you on what sounds like a nice race. He also did an awesome job of winning our LSSC Single Handed Race http://lakeshoresailclub.org/raceresults/2007results/2007_results_singlehanded_01.pdf. My hat is off to him. I also want to mention that in addition to Bobs' 1st place, I was able to manage 2nd place in my Catalina 27. This is against a fleet of an Islander 36 (Marksman - Perennial DRYA Champion) a Santana 35, a fellow Catalina 30, an Elite 32 and a Beneteau 350. As you all know, our little Catalina's are great little cruisers. But they can also do it on the race course. Congratulations Bob!!! I'm going sailing Sunday on Lake St. Clair. If I happen to bump into a few of the 60+ Melges on the lake, well then, that's their problem. I hear they'er having a National Regatta or something starting today.
