"All the cheap Katrina parts"...;>) I've already disposed of 2 Cat 27's, 1 Cat
30 and 1 Easterly 30.
I'm down to my last "spare" 27 and I have all the parts I need. There is just
not enough time to go around.
Well to be totally honest, I have been putting a little more time in on the
J-24 I bought for a dollar salvage after the storm. Now that bottom is smooth.
Gratis hasn't been out for 3 years that I know of but I have scarped it in the
water.

Your still working on that thing? I would have guessed after all the cheap
Katrina parts running around you would have the best boat in the fleet! Look at
the bright side at least you know what your bottom looks like ;-)

You're doin' way better than me. I got mine salvage after Katrina and
Gratis is still, over a year later, just a slow motorboat.

Mine is slow because when I bought it I paid alittle over $1K it had not
sailes in over 10 years and to top that I was told I would not be able to get
her to move in under 2 -3 monts! Being the person I am I could not let a
challenge like that go I had her out n the bay in 2weeks and 3 days. Since
there were so many repairs I have not had a chance to haul her out yet but hope
to soon. Since I have been taking her out on the bay on a regular bassis she
has risen almost 3" in the water from loosing all the crud that was on the
bottom. This is my second C27 Hull # 68 it is a 71 dinette model My first was a
73 traditional with Atomic 4 and that was back in the 80's. Since ther is so
much work still needs to be done I realy could not say witch is better but I
sure got my bang for the buck.

You may be a little "slicker" w/out the prop, shaft and strut...but
what about all that weight hanging way out back.
Back in the day when I had a Soverel 33 O/B, I had a buddy who bought a
Soverel 33 I/B.
We raced with/against one another for 2 seasons. I won some, he won
some.
We both had good sails, good crew and clean bottoms.
But there was this nagging "argument" at the bar about O/B vs I/B.
During one series we decided to swap boats, just to put the "argument"
to rest.
He won 2 races...sailing my boat, I won 2 races sailing his boat.
The fifth race was not sailed due to weather.
We were tied for 2nd (that damned J-33 w/ the sailmaker driving), and
the "argument" rages on!

I don't know what there is to get heated about. My inboard diesel
boat with a wheel is better than your outboard gas spitting transom hung tiller
boat! Just ask me and I'll tell ya!
