It turns out that the designer that Chris had do some work on the hat design is also a good friend of mine. Larry worked with me for several years. Later, he worked with Chris. While there are millions of people in the Washington/Annapolis area, it is amazing that Chris and I have so many common friends and that Chris has even sailed on my good friend’s Melges 24. I feel like I have been playing a nautical version of 6 degrees of separation.
As a side note, I dropped off all but one hat to my friend (I promised Chris I would make an image of it for him) and the friend loved them. And the name of the boat … Totally Irresponsible! This is his third boat, the first was Irresponsible, the second is Irresponsible Too, his Melges (the hats for this boat) is Totally Irresponsible. I asked my friend today what his next boat will be named. He isn’t sure, but it looks like it might be Absolutely Irresponsible!
