I have a practical, uh, empirical experiment going on right now in this
area. I have the Atomic 4 still in place, but added the 9.8 Nissan on a
bracket in the last season. This spring I will take out the Atomic 4.
She is down about three-quarters of an inch at the stern with the addition
of the outboard now.
BTW, the outboard is about 90 lbs. and the bracket is not negligible, at
least the heavy duty all-stainless one I bought. I believe it weighs
somewhere around 30 lbs. including the heavy rails that go inside the
transom. The bracket stands the outboard off about six to eight inches from
the transom, so you would have to increase your moment-arm by that amount if
you have not accounted for it.
