Dave, there is a site where you can track planes by their N numbers (http://registry.faa.gov/aircraftinquiry/NNum_inquiry.asp )! My dad owned a plane several decades ago and for his 50th wedding anniversary I did an extensive web page of his and my mom's life. Pictures then and now. I tracked down the plane and persuaded the current owner to shoot some images of it. Those images ended up as prints that he treasured until he passed away.
