Yeah, great thanks to John: Turns out that there are some of us who haven't gotten boats ready (myself included) doesn't help that NOODS is a full weak earlier than 2 years ago.
But the bigger problem is probably fatigue on the part of a dedicated few.? The happy little elephants have added a doxen members to their racing ranks in the last couple years.? We, on the other hand, have lost 2 relative newcomers to overseas assignments, a couple to new jobs, kids, and houses, and we actually had a couple of regulars retire from racing. So for all the rest of you who will leave your 27's on the mooring and race on OPB's, call your kids and have them take the CAT out and have fun, or send my email address to the guy at the bar with the 27 who tells you he could once again rule the waves if he could only find crew.? We had 3 dozen folks last night at the crew listing party looking for a new ride where they weren't "on the bench", or for a chance to try. We're going to drive at least one HP race north of the bridge this year, and hopefully will connect with folks who don't know how much fun it is to sail one-design. And, of course, anyone on the list who'd like to come out is surely welcome.? If you don't think you have it in you, maybe join us Sunday the 4th for our own tune-up session.? We've had low numbers before (only 6 qualifiers in 2000), so our current focus is on bringing them back up.? We'll be nice, promise. Peter Z Oh, and BZ to the guys in Detroit who will make their NOODS debut. Fun Fact - Did you know, you can buy a dozen Catalina 27's, with sails, for the price of a 10yr old Mumm 30? -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [email protected] Sent: Thu, 17 Apr 2008 11:59 am Subject: Re: catalina27-talk: fleet 8 and the naptown NOOD AYC has given us a start thanks in large part to John Ebell lobbying on behalf of the fleet.? We only have 5 boats signed up right now.? ? NOODs have been a sticking point for the fleet for years.? It is expensive, it always blows like hell, nobody has had any practice and it counts for 3 hi point days.... ? It is a great regatta, but I just wish it were some other time of the year.? The problem is that there really aren't any other holes in the racing schedule that it could fill and work with Sailing World's calendar also. ? In a message dated 4/17/2008 11:34:07 A.M. I am sorry to see it, esp when the dancing elephants have a nice fat fleet of 15 piglets signed up! why the low turn-out?...was the weather a factor? I know there are some folks up here who are late getting in due to the persistent cold temps. just curious. tf Need a new ride? Check out the largest site for U.S. used car listings at AOL Autos.
