Type 'A' is Dexron which is used in GM trannies. Type 'F' also known as
Mercon is used in Fords. I used Dexron II in mine. Type 'A' was the good
old generic stuff used in 40 and 50's for those wonderful Dynaflow
transmissions.

If I remember right it was either Ford or Chevy that used this type in the
50's and 60's

I have a Hurth transmission, which was the subject of some discussion
earlier in the week. My manual says to only use "Type A" transmission fluid.
I'm aware of Type F, but I've never heard of Type A. What do you use?
