Andy, thanks for the kind words-and thanks to everyone else for their kind words and thanks especially that nobody griped about this being so far off topic. I only wish she were actually MY daughter; she's the daughter of a woman to whom I was engaged for three years but left. Annie-her mom-was an outstanding singer, too, with perfect pitch, and was formally trained as an opera singer, but had nodules develop on her throat (both Annie and Leslie have Lupus) that took away her soprano range and left her sounding like a heavy smoker. Leslie's got a lower range but great modulation and control (for example, listen to one of the videos linked to the National Anthem on YouTube called Let Them Go, or find a song she did called Jagged if you want to hear something outstanding she wrote at age 17).
I don't think she'll ever go back to American Idol-she was cut last year when they were four or five people away from narrowing down to the top 12, for being too jazzy and funky-but she did get backing from one of the show's producers to start her own record label and a few albums will come out of the deal, so no regrets. (I'm not advertising; just really proud of her) Thanks again, Dave Shaddock From: [email protected] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thursday, May 01, 2008 8:25 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: catalina27-talk: Way OT, but it's almost the 4th of July Dave Your daughter can SING!!!! That was one of the best I have ever heard. She, you, and her Mom should be very proud. I can see a future American Idol winner here. Andy Slow "MO" tion Nyack, NY _____ Need a new ride?
